Sacramento Native American Health Center Promotes Chief Clinical Officer

Sacramento, California – January 24, 2023 – Sacramento Native American Health Center (SNAHC) is pleased to announce Hakeem O. Adeniyi, Jr., MD as the new Chief Clinical Officer (CCO). Board Certified in Family and Community Medicine, Dr. Adeniyi, affectionately known as Dr. Hakeem, received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and trained at San Francisco General Hospital, a UCSF-affiliated trauma center.

Dr. Adeniyi has served as the Medical Director at our Midtown location for the past 3 years and has been the Chair of the California Primary Care Association’s (CPCA) Clinicians Committee and Supporting Black Communities Working Group during his tenure. Having previously served as a Chief Medical Officer at an FQHC in the Greater Sacramento area and as the Regional Medical Director at a large FQHC organization in the Bay Area, Dr. Adeniyi looks forward to engaging with the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and our Clinical Directors in this new capacity.

Dr. Adeniyi’s passion lies in serving urban, underserved communities striving to eliminate health disparities along racial, ethnic, developmental, and socioeconomic lines, and he hopes to continue his work towards the quintuple aim for health care improvement which highlights improvement population health, enhancing the patient experience, reducing healthcare costs, addressing care team wellbeing, and advancing health equity.

“The Sacramento community has benefited tremendously from the care provided by Dr. Adeniyi,” said Mary Tarango, Board Chair, “I know firsthand of Dr. Adeniyi’s commitment to servant-based leadership and we are excited that he will be stepping into this important role.”

Using Sir William Osler’s quote that “the role of a physician (clinician) is to cure sometimes, to heal often, and to comfort always” as a guiding principle, Dr. Adeniyi is eager to support and to partner with our Clinical Departments to help improve the lives of our patients and our communities.
