Care, Community, Culture Hits South Sacramento

Sacramento, California – July 12, 2023 The Sacramento Native American Health Center (SNAHC) has officially opened a full-service health center at 3800 Florin Road in South Sacramento. This is the third SNAHC location including another full-service clinic on J Street in Midtown and a School-based Health Center at Grant Union High School in Del Paso Heights.

SNAHC Florin Road is approximately 35,000 square feet and offers medical, dental, behavioral health, traditional, and supportive health services, including onsite Medi-Cal enrollment via Sacramento Covered. The site serves both Native and non-Native patients. This location will double SNAHC’s patient population in Sacramento County and serve as an additional patient-centered health home that provides quality healthcare for all.

The construction of this groundbreaking and cutting-edge patient-centered health home started in October 2021. Initial projects included the renovation of two existing buildings that previously supported the operations of a car dealership. These buildings now house integrated medical and behavioral health services, along with a dedicated Youth and Family Space called Sali To’a’su’ Kochang which roughly translates to “the Foundation that Supports the House” in the local Miwok language. The Youth and Family Space was named by Wilton Rancheria Elders and Tribal Council, led by Chairman, Jesus Tarango. A third building was then newly constructed to connect the two existing structures and house the dental clinic as well as the main lobby and patient waiting area. Construction for SNAHC Florin Road has been funded by numerous community grants, donations, and partnerships, which are highlighted on SNAHC’s website.

“SNAHC has been serving South Sacramento since we opened in Midtown in 2007, but our goal has always been to remove barriers to care by expanding access into the communities we serve where they are,” said Britta Guerrero, Chief Executive Officer of SNAHC. This new location directly responds to the request for more access to primary care and mental health and substance use help in Sacramento County. In fact, the services offered at SNAHC Florin Road were informed by community-led discussions and surveys with patients, Tribal leaders, and partner agencies. We are honored to be welcomed into South Sacramento and look forward to bringing our unique combination of care, community, and culture to Florin Road.
