Sacramento, CA- April 9th 2025- GRID Alternatives North Valley has partnered with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) to install solar for the Sacramento Native American Health Center’s (SNAHC) newest facility at 3800 Florin Road in South Sacramento. This approximately 35,000-square-foot facility offers medical, behavioral health, dental, and supportive services. This location also has a Youth and Family Space. The SNAHC Florin Road location will double SNAHC’s patient population in Sacramento County and serve as an additional location for the provision of quality healthcare for all. There are no tribal or ethnic requirements to receive services at SNAHC Florin Road.
The focus will be a Ribbon Cutting event on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 12 PM at the Sacramento Native American Health Center, 3800 Florin Road, Sacramento, CA 95823. This project is a 27.72 kW solar system with a 64.8 kWh battery system, which means that in case of a power outage, the facility could function at full power for around 14 hours or half power for around 28 hours, etc. The other benefit of a battery-paired system is increased energy savings, which can be achieved by using the battery to store excess energy during the day and then using that stored energy when time-of-use rates are higher.
SMUD is a community-owned electric utility that generates, transmits, and distributes electric power to customer-owners, principally in the greater Sacramento area. “This innovative solar and battery storage project at the Sacramento Native American Health Center builds on our successful track record with GRID Alternatives,” said Scott Martin, SMUD’s Chief Financial Officer and SNAHC Board member. “Beyond installing solar panels, we’re creating pathways to energy savings and cleaner air while supporting vital healthcare services. Through partnerships like GRID Alternatives, we’re advancing toward our 2030 zero-carbon goal while ensuring no community is left behind in our clean energy transition.” said SMUD Board President, Gregg Fishman.
GRID Alternatives North Valley is a regional affiliate of the nation’s largest nonprofit solar installer, helping low-income families save money while bringing clean solar energy onto the grid and providing volunteers and job seekers with hands-on experience in solar.
“We’re excited to partner with SNAHC and SMUD to support the expansion of critical healthcare services in our region through GRID’s people-powered model of solar energy installation. This has been a rewarding solar plus battery storage project to be a part of and we are honored by the trust that SMUD and SNAHC placed in us,” said GRID Co-Executive Director Achini Bandara.
